Loaner Laptop Program

Purpose: In those instances when a student's personal laptop must be returned to the manufacturer for repair, a student may borrow - for a period of 1 week - a PC or MAC laptop from the Circulation Desk at the Pence Law Library. This privilege is available for registered Washington College of Law students only.

Loan Period: The loan period for laptops is one week. A $1.00 per hour fine will be assessed (with a one hour grace period), for a maximum fine of $16.00 per day. Loans are NOT renewable unless authorized by WCL Administration. The laptops are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Important: These laptops are equipped with Word, WordPerfect and many other standard programs. Upon return, the computer will be re-imaged, and any data stored on the computer will be destroyed, so you should save all data externally.

Support Requests: Should be directed to the Student Help Desk in room NT10. The IT Help Desk supports hardware and software for the library's laptops. Please visit the Help Desk in NT10, email, call 202-274-4021, or enter an online support request.

Honor Code: The following section of the Honor Code is applicable to laptop checkouts:

"Academic violations include familiar matters such as cheating on exams, plagiarism, and interfering with the "broadest possible access to library resources."

As the loaner laptops are library resources, keeping them past the due date is considered "interfering with the 'broadest possible access to library resources,'" and is therefore a violation of the Honor Code.
